FREE FRUIT & VEGETABLE FLASHCARDS
Do you know the difference between fruit & vegetables? To sum it up, fruits coming from the FLOWERING part of the plant and contain SEEDS. Whereas, Vegetables are basically the plants themselves (or at least the edible part).
Did you also know, tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins, cucumbers and peas are actually fruit and not vegetables? It’s true! Even though these guys are typically classified as veggies, they are technically fruit. They contain seeds and come from a plant (they are not the plant themselves). Remember these facts when you are teaching your preschoolers or Kinders about fruits and veggies.
Use these FREE flashcards below for your students to learn the names of each fruit & veggie. To make it harder, cut the name labels off and have them sound the word out with your help to match to the appropriate picture. Laminate these for multiple uses. Other ideas for these could be putting some with the fruit/veggie themselves (or toy fruits/veggies) in a sensory bin and having them match each one. There are so many ways to utilize flashcards then just the “old school” way. Be creative and use these FREEBIES today!

Place the free flashcards within the sensory bin and have each child find a card and a real object that matches it.
Is it winter where you are and you’re not sure what type of nature sensory bin to use? Add snow to a bin!! We do this every year and the kids have snow much fun! Of course, we have them wear their gloves to keep their little hands warm. We then pull out mini shovels and even sand castle items for them to build in the snow. When they’re done, we just remove the toys and empty the melted snow back outside.
